Turner Construction Construction Co. is the inaugural recipient of the ACE DC Impact Award

Congratulations to Turner Construction Co, the recipient of the first annual ACE DC Impact Award. Turner has had a long standing commitment to ACE, and especially to ACE DC. Peter Davoren, CEO at Turner, is the president of the ACE National board and strong advocate for ACE. Here in DC, Turner employees started a new mentor team Phelps High School in Washington DC. Now, there are numerous Turner employees mentoring in schools across the region. Additionally, Turner regularly offers area students internships, providing valuable experiences to students. ACE DC appreciates Turner's support of ACE DC!

Our 2019 Mentor of the Year is....

Jennifer Greenawalt of Thortnon Tomasetti and Co-lead mentor at Washington Lee! Jennifer is an ACE success story. She participated in ACE in high-school, won an ACE scholarship, pursued a degree in engineering, and upon getting her first job, immediately got involved in ACE DC as a mentor! During her 4 years as an ACE mentor, she willingly took on the role of Lead Mentor, grew her team of students from about 6 to over 30 (the largest team since ACE began at Washington Lee in 2011). To support this growth, Jen has recruited a diverse group of mentors – and successfully supports and guides them through ACE. Virginia Student Presentation Night was another Success!

Congratulations to our Virginia Teams on an amazing Student Presentation Night! Once again, the judges were blown away by the professionalism of our students in their design projects and presentation abilities. Four teams joined our event this year: Hayfield, Marshall, Washington Lee and Woodson. We were thrilled to award First Place to team from Marshall High School, for their design and actual construction of a greenhouse on school grounds. Congratulations! Second place went to Washington Lee for their Georgetown Pedestrian Bridge and Third Place went to Hayfield for their Modernization of Hayfield High School.
